Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut reveals defender Perry Ng was forced off in the loss against Birmingham as ‘he couldn’t see’ after going down twice in the first 13 minutes

Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut revealed Perry Ng was forced off against Birmingham because ‘he couldn’t see’.

The defender went down twice in the first 13 minutes of the Bluebirds’ 1-0 loss to Wayne Rooney’s side on Wednesday night, before being withdrawn.

On both occasions, Ng appeared to go without down without colliding with another player beforehand.

After getting back to his feet for a second time, he walked to the sideline and pointed to his head before being replaced by Mahlon Romeo.

‘He said he couldn’t see,’ Bulut told reporters in his post-match press conference.

I don’t know what it was and I hope it is not too serious but he just said he couldn’t see. I must speak to the medical staff.’

Juninho Bacuna’s goal on the stroke of half-time proved the difference as Birmingham ended a run of eight consecutive away defeats with a win at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Five of those losses had come since Rooney took charge at St Andrew’s in October and the former Manchester United captain admitted he was relieved to end the dismal run.

‘I’m delighted with the win. The performance was good but after the run we’ve been on, it was all about winning,’ he said.

Juninho Bacuna’s goal proved the difference as Birmingham won 1-0 in Wales 

‘We dealt with Cardiff pretty well. Their set-piece is one of the best in the league and we struggled a bit with that, but in general I thought we limited them, especially in the second half.

‘The performance was nothing special but we controlled things, showed plenty of grit and showed real composure for the goal.’

Victory sees Birmingham move up two spots to 16th in the table, while Cardiff slipped to 10th, three points adrift of a playoff spot.

And Bulut conceded the manner of the defeat was a lot more worrying than the result, with the Bluebirds scoring just once in the past four games.

‘It’s not just the loss but the way we lost that is most disappointing,’ he said.

‘We did some good things in the first half but I don’t think I want to talk about the second half. We played as individuals trying to do things but that never works, you have to be a team.

‘It’s not enough what we have seen in the last two games, we have to show much more. You have to fight to the end but we did not.’
