Cardwell crash: Driver and female passenger killed after vehicle veers off notorious road

A driver and his female passenger have been found dead at the scene of a crash on a notorious road.

The pair, both in their 30s, had been travelling north along the Bruce Highway at Damper Creek in Queensland when their Holden Commodore veered off the road and overturned sometime overnight.

The exact time of the crash is unknown. 

Their car likely struck trees lining the verge of the highway after flipping. 

Emergency services were called to the single vehicle crash about 6.15am Tuesday. 

The male driver and female passenger were declared dead at the scene.

The wreckage of the Holden was covered by tarpaulins as police investigated the  scene on Tuesday. 

Anyone with dashcam footage or witnesses to the incident that may assist piecing together the events leading up to the crash, are urged to come forward.
