A care worker who stabbed her older sister to death and cut off her hand is facing a life sentence.

Sabah Khan, 27, cut the throat of mother-of-four Saima Khan, 34, while the victim’s children were sleeping upstairs at the family home in Luton.

At the time of the savage attack other members of the family were at a local mosque attending a funeral.

They included Saima’s taxi driver husband, Hafeez Rehman.

Saima, who was also a care worker, was found slumped in a pool of blood in the hallway of her semi-detached home at around 11.30pm on 23 May last year.

Her sister Sabah stood in the dock of the Old Bailey today to plead guilty to murder.

The plea was made on the basis that when she bought the knife used in the attack it was not with the intention of murdering her sister.

Sabah will be sentenced on Thursday.

Judge Christopher Moss QC told her: ‘You will appear before this court again on Thursday at 10am and you must remain in custody.’

It has previously been reported that the rest of the Khan family were attending a funeral of an elderly aunt at the local mosque.
