Carer has saucy Secret Santa gift delivered in clear bag

Georgia Mellor, 19, from Widnes, was left mortified when her postman uncle delivered her saucy Secret Santa gift in clear packaging

A carer was left red-faced when her postman uncle delivered her saucy Secret Santa gift in clear packaging.

Georgia Mellor, 19, ordered the penis-shaped stress ball from eBay for a colleague’s Secret Santa present on December 5 – but assumed it would arrive boxed up.

But when the original packaging became damaged Royal Mail replaced it with a clear bag, exposing the X-rated gift.

To make matters worse, the item was delivered to Miss Mellor’s house by her uncle, who is the local postman.

The present was also delivered to her house when it was her younger brother Ben’s 13th birthday party.

Miss Mellor, from Widnes in Cheshire, said: ‘This is something that my family will always keep bringing up. They’ll never let me live this down. This kind of thing could only happen to me.

‘It is typical that it was at my brother’s birthday. I was hoping that it wasn’t my uncle that delivered it, but it was. He delivered my brother’s birthday card at the same time.

‘He found it funny. It was so embarrassing. He just took the mick out of me. My brother found it funny too.

‘I explained it to them in the end. Everyone just found it hilarious. I thought the packaging would be a bit more discreet. I had no idea it would arrive like that.

‘I wasn’t annoyed about it. It was just embarrassing but funny at the same time. ‘

Miss Mellor added: ‘My friends have a similar sense of humour to me so I knew that they would find this present funny. It is just the kind of banter that we have.

‘I haven’t told the girls at work about it yet but I will once we’ve swapped presents. I know that they will find it absolutely hilarious.

‘I have had a lot of people making jokes about it.’

Royal Mail issued an apology for the embarrassment caused to Miss Mellor.

A spokesman said: ‘Royal Mail would like to apologise to the customer.

‘We process and deliver millions of items of mail each day without incident, however items of mail can occasionally arrive open either because they are poorly packaged or damaged as they pass through our machine processes.

‘Every item of mail is important to us and all our postmen and women are vigilant for open mail. When we do spot items that are open or damaged, they are re-sealed and placed in a protective bag prior to delivery to the customer.

‘In cases concerning confidential or sensitive material, items should be placed in a Royal Mail envelope so the contents are not visible and then placed in the protective bag.

‘We apologise that in this case the correct procedure was not followed.’
