Carnes Hill home invasion: Man is shot and his house doused in petrol before group of eight flee the scene

A man has been shot and his house doused in petrol during a horror home invasion as police hunt for a group of eight men. 

Emergency services rushed to a home on Mary Wade Place in Carnes Hill, about 40km southwest of Sydney’s CBD, at about 12.45am on Tuesday. 

A 25-year-old man who had been shot in the leg was treated at the home before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable but serious condition.

NSW Police said the man had been shot twice. 

Officers were told eight men wearing face coverings forced entry into the home. 

Petrol was poured through the home but not ignited.

The group then fled the home in two separate vehicles with another car parked in the driveway sustaining shotgun damage.

NSW Police believe the incident was targeted and have launched an investigation.
