Carol Smillie leaves House of Games viewers stunned by her youthful looks

Carol Smillie left House of Games viewers stunned this week as they branded her ‘sensational’, saying she was ‘looking smoking’ on the show.

The former Changing Rooms host, 60, appeared alongside actor Babatunde Aléshé, radio personality Richie Anderson, and actress Jo Caulfield on the BBC programme hosted by Richard Osman, and viewers were delighted by Carol’s resplendent looks, with many taking to Twitter to compliment the star.

One person wrote: ‘I never fancied Carol Smilie in the ‘90s, I mean, I liked her well enough but I didn’t think about her in those terms. Then we watched yesterday’s House Of Games and now I’m head over heels to such a stupid extent The Wife just asked: “Should I be worried?”’

Carol rose to fame as a television presenter during the 1990s and early 2000s, assisting Nicky Campbell on the UK version of the game show Wheel of Fortune between 1989 and 1994 and hosting Changing Rooms from 1996 to 2003 among others.

However, Carol was not brought back as a host of the reboot of Changing Rooms last year with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen fronting the show alongside her replacement Anna Richardson.

And Carol liked a series of fans’ tweets lamenting her absence from the reboot of the series last summer.

At the time Laurence spoke to The Sun about the prospect of Carol’s return.

When asked if he would like her to return, the flamboyant star said: ‘No, and hand on heart, what the producers and what Channel 4 have done is actually very clever…

‘They have moved on and it wouldn’t have worked if it had been Jurassic Park — it had to be a reinvention. And to be fair, I resisted it for a long time. I was very keen that they really should look at finding possibilities with other people.

‘Otherwise, it would just be a revival, actually it always needed to be a reboot.’

Back then: In August 2020, Carol said she'd be open to returning to Changing Rooms, telling The Sun: 'It was definitely the favourite show of my career' (the team pictured in the show's heyday)
