The trick works on any herb, including rosemary, basil and parsley.

‘This is my favourite hack for fresh herbs,’ Carolina said.

‘Preparing fresh herbs made easy… Just use a grater to remove leaves. I love this. No more wasted herbs.’

Many home cooks quickly pointed out she’d wasted the stems.

‘Why are you separating them? You are supposed to use the stalk. Just cut off the roots, clean it and chop the whole thing up. The stalk tastes exactly the same as coriander and will add a lovely crunch to salads,’ one wrote.

Another said: ‘You wasted herbs… You can eat the whole coriander stem, don’t throw the stem away,’ while one added: ‘I just cut it all. No wasting the stems.’

However, many thought the trick was ‘genius’ and ‘very clever’ while others said they will prepare their herbs with a grater from now on.

‘Most people do eat the stems, but as a toddler mum who doesn’t always have time to chop things, I really appreciate this hack,’ one mum said.

‘I’ll definitely be trying this out,’ another wrote, while one added: ‘You couldn’t of posted this on Sunday when I was cutting my parley? It took forever.’
