Carrabin crash: Major update after car smashed into a tree killing seven-year-old twins

The driver of a car that crashed into a tree and killed twin seven-year-old girls in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region four months ago has been charged.

Emergency services attended the scene of the serious crash on Great Eastern Highway in Carrabin, between Merredin and Southern Cross, just after 11am on Sunday February 18.

‘Upon arrival at the scene it was confirmed the crash involved a white Toyota Camry sedan which had left the road and struck a tree,’ a Western Australian Police Force statement issued at the time said.

‘Tragically, two seven-year-old girls died at the scene.

‘The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was taken by St John WA to Merredin Hospital.’

On Sunday, the WA police said a 31-year-old woman from Halls Head south of Perth had now been charged with two counts of careless driving causing death, grievous bodily harm or bodily harm.

She is due to appear before the Northam Magistrates Court on Monday.
