Caterpillar in Merseyside Marks and Spencer sandwich

This is the horrifying moment a driving instructor found a little green caterpillar wriggling around in her sandwich.

Natalie Oliver, from Spital in Merseyside, was chowing down on the snack loaded with roast chicken and avocado when she noticed the creepy crawly inside.

The 25-year-old had already chewed through half of the £3 sandwich she bought from Marks and Spencer when she made the gruesome discovery.

The 20-second clip shows the little creature wriggle out of the half-eaten sandwich and tumble onto the table before slithering around.

Natalie, who works at the Chris Kelly Driving School, said she bought it from a recently-opened M&S store attached to a petrol station on Spital Road.

She stored the snack in her fridge for a few days – suggesting the caterpillar had been marinading in it for some time.

She told the Liverpool Echo: ‘I was walking around the house eating it.

‘When I looked down I caught a glimpse of something green crawling – I thought it was a piece of avocado until it dropped to the floor.

‘People keep telling me at least I know it was fresh for a caterpillar to have survived inside it.

‘Because of my job I am always relying on grabbing a quick sandwich, but this has put me off getting another one from there.’

She added: ‘I won’t be going back for another.’

Marks and Spencer have promised to investigate the incident.
