Caulfield Cup race day styles that stood out from crowd

There is always something interesting to feast your eyes on at one of Australia’s richest races and this year’s Caulfield Cup did not disappoint.

Everything from oversized hats, bold floral frocks and gigantic gold crowns were just some of the quirky fashions flocking to Caulfield Racecourse.

As more than 30,000 keen race goers flooded through the Melbourne gates, thousands of vibrant eye catching outfits were widely on display.

With many simple neutral coloured outfits on display, it was the adventurous threads that stood out from the crowd.

One bold lavender hat took centre stage complete with soft pink flowers pinned to the top. 

A bright red head to toe ensemble brightened up the dreary Melbourne weather as one race goer wore red studded heels, red skirt and blouse topped with a red straw hat and ribbon. 

Other revellers were seen trading in the traditional fascinator for large sunhats or dainty jewel head bands. 

While some opted for a simple tan straw hat, others chose to turn heads with a huge yellow fan head piece studded with decorative jewels. 

Tiaras were a popular choice at the racecourse.

One woman took it to the next level with a gigantic gold reef towering over her head, which was held in place by a low bun at the nape of her neck.

One gentleman was even spotted wearing a large black headpiece, which resembled a boat, tipped on the side of his head to complete his look equipped with a black blazer and embellishment on the arm.
