Celebrities slam Trump’s State of the Union address

Many celebrities in Hollywood roasted President Donald Trump on Twitter during his first State of the Union address on Tuesday night at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. 

Patton Oswalt lead the way in celebrity commentary as he took to social media to live tweet Trump’s speech to his more than four million followers.

The 47-year-old comedian joked along with his fans during the hour-long speech broadcast across television screens and on the internet, saying ‘Here comes Trump’s cabinet. Scientifically this is called a “goblin picnic” before using the hashtag #SOTU.

In another tweet, the Spy Kids star wrote, ‘Any lip readers out there? Is Melanie repeating, “Help me” through clenched teeth?’

First Lady Melania Trump arrived in the House chamber wearing a white Dior suit, and reportedly took her own motorcade to Capitol Hill amid allegations of marital troubles with the president after porn star Stormy Daniels alleged an affair in 2006, a year-and-a-half into their marriage. 

‘Good to be in a room where I’m either hated or barely tolerated,’ Patton tweeted of the president’s speech. ‘Feels like home.’

Trump was joined in the House of Representatives by his wife, Melania, and all of his adult children. His youngest son, Barron, stayed behind.

Part of his nearly 80-minute long speech focused on the dangerous MS-13 gang and subsequent violence surrounding the group and its members.

Many celebrities joined Patton on Twitter to voice their outrage at the president and his State of the Union.

Sarah Silverman wrote, ‘I was told darkness could not exist in the light. But here it is, for everyone to not see.’

Trump’s speech was the third-longest State of the Union at one hour and 20 minutes in length, according to The New York Times. 

President Bill Clinton spoke for one hour and 28 minutes in 2000, and one hour and 24 minutes in 1995, according to the American Presidency Project.
