Celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman reveals the secrets behind Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston and Anne Hathaway’s red carpet looks

Iconic celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman has spilled some of the red carpet secrets of the world’s biggest stars.

The founder of Westman Atelier discussed how she styles the likes of Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston and Anne Hathaway for their close ups.

When it comes to Nicole, the 52-year-old American makeup mogul says the Australian actress gets her perfectly pink cheeks thanks to the Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in the shade Poppet.

Suitable for use on the cheeks and lips, the stick offers natural looking finish and retails for AUD $82.

Part of Anne Hathaway’s perfect red carpet looks is her own hard work, Westman revealed to Stellar on Monday.

‘She looks better than ever. She’s incredibly disciplined – exercises every day, eats super clean, she works her butt off. She doesn’t stray,’ she said.

Jennifer Aniston ensures she always looks looks like herself even when at a high fashion shoot.

‘With Jen, it’s never fully a transformation, it’s usually a version of her. And she feels good that way,’ Westman told the publication.

Westman will celebrate seven years of her skincare-meets-makeup brand in July this year.

Gucci is first and foremost as make-up artist and friend to the likes of Cameron Diaz and Aniston.

She champions what she calls make-up ‘wardrobe’, a system, and one that delivers a very natural-looking finish.

Or, as she puts it, skin that ‘looks intact but enhanced, amplified’.

Developing it and getting the textures right took four years of (self-funded) hard work, especially because she didn’t want to use silicones.

‘We’re all so accustomed to how silicones feel,’ she told Daily Mail.

‘I had to create something that was close to that of my competitors but was also clean and beautiful – thank God for camellia oil.’

Gucci is clear about what her brand is: natural options first and free from ‘nasties’ including parabens and phthalates; and what it isn’t: organic.

When she can’t use natural ingredients it’s because she won’t compromise on the feel, finish and effect that she, as much as any of us, wants from her make-up.

Westman Atelier products also have skincare benefits.

Gucci suffers from rosacea, so she has included ingredients such as phytosphingosine, a plant extract with anti-inflammatory properties, so products are ‘healing and therapeutic’.
