Celebrity stylist Donny Galella shares his tips on how you can slim down with new range of jeans

Forget gruelling workouts and strict diets, a new range of jeans has promised to knock five kilos off your look without working a sweat.

The ‘minus five kilos jeans’ retailed at US$48.00 [AU$65] are from Korean fashion label Chuu. The styles come in wide, skinny and baggy.

So how do the jeans make you ‘instantly’ slimmer?

Speaking to Sunrise, Australian celebrity stylist Donny Galella explained how they work for women – as he shared his top tips on other ways to dress your weight away.

‘So basically, it’s all about the way it’s constructed, they are made from a really stretchy denim, which is really flattering on the body,’ he said.

‘But then it has this in-built shape technology, so almost like wearing spanx, and it gives you that perfect lift and the higher waist makes your waist look smaller.

‘The pockets are positioned in a way to make your bottom look extra perky and perfect. They’re quite a very soft, mouldable denim, so they are comfortable. ‘

If denim isn’t your cup of tea, Mr Galella said there are other simple ways to dress the weight away.

‘Pointed heels help elongate the legs so they do make your legs look longer. Nude shoes are definitely a great thing to wear,’ he said.

‘Nude shoes also elongate your legs, make your legs look longer. So you look at ladies on the red carpet, they often wear nude shoes because it elongates your legs.’

Mr Galella said clothing with pinstripes or vertigo lines ‘make you look taller and slimmer’.

‘Horizontal stripes obviously do the opposite so vertical stripes, vertical prints all very flattering,’ he said.

He suggested another way to take the focus away from the waist was wearing an open neckline or opting for big statement earrings. 

‘[It] takes the focus away from those areas that you might be concerned about,’ he said.

‘And if all else fails, spanx. You can get men’s spanx and ladies’ spanx.’
