Celebs reveal how they’re glad to see the back of 2017

While many celebrities proffered optimistic messages of goodwill for the year ahead, other famous faces didn’t even try and hide their relief that 2017 has been put to bed.  

Ushering in the new year in confessional style, BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern told her followers she’d had a s*** year while radio presenter Fearne Cotton said the 12 months just gone had seen her experience emotions including ‘good, a bit of bad, sad, confusing and everything inbetween.’

Meanwhile, Lisa Armstrong made no bones about where she’d like to put 2017, posting a cartoon version of herself carrying a toxic-looking bag of garbage, with the year clearly labelled on it.

Others who might dub the last year their own personal annus horribilis include actor and funnyman Tony Robinson who penned: ‘2017 nearly over. Blimey, I’ll be glad to see the back of that b*******.’

Meanwhile, Rebecca Adlington admitted that the first seven months of this year had been some of the ‘toughest of my life’. 

Writing on Instagram about how the year had ended positively, she wrote:  ‘2016 until this summer has been the toughest of my life. A lot of tears and challenging times but after going on holiday with @thomasshaffield in August I finally got a bit of my mojo back!’

While BBC presenter Steph McGovern didn’t allude to why she’d had such a tough year, she did say offer a note of optimism for the year ahead, writing: ‘Well 2017, I am very glad to see the back of you.

GB long jump star told his 255,000 followers that 2017 was a ‘crap year professionally’ but joked that his partner @susiejverrill had given birth to The Pope, a reference to his youngest son Rex’s roomy hat, so he was still ‘lucky’.

Presenter Fearne Cotton followed up her analysis of the year just gone with a similarly upbeat note, saying: ‘I endeavour to focus on the positives and see the lessons in the troubles. Love and strength to you all in 2018.
