It’s the race that stops the nation but Australia’s biggest stars were in full swing from 6am on Tuesday getting getting for the Melbourne Cup. 

But five hours before the first race of the day, eager A-listers were already prepping and preening to perfect their race day look.

Breakfast TV stars Edwina Bartholomew, Samantha Armytage and Natalie Barr were ready to gee up the nation by 6am as they share their looks for the day.

The black and white bandeau was designed by award-winning New Zealand millinery designer Jill Humphries from Jill & Jack Millinery.

The headpiece featured white flowers made from soft leather that ‘grew’ out of its striped band.

Natalie Barr took the focus off the fashions for a second by sharing the food she’d started off the day with – a ham and cheese toastie.
