An alleged one punch attack has left a young father fighting for his life.
Haydn Butcher, 31, was celebrating New Year’s Eve with his girlfriend at The Lakes Hotel on the NSW Central Coast when a fight broke out in the early hours of Monday morning, according to The Daily Telegraph.
After the altercation, the father-of-one stepped outside and was allegedly punched once in the face by a 49-year-old man, who police say ran toward him.

Mr Butcher lost consciousness after he fell to the ground and hit his head on the ground, according to police.
The carpenter was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he remains in a critical condition with swelling on the brain.
It is understood Mr Butcher is suffering from a broken jaw and has only 10 per cent brain response, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Mr Butcher’s young daughter and girlfriend are believed to be at his bedside.
The 49-year-old man was arrested at a home in Bateau Bar on Monday night and has since been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and is set to appear at Wyong Local Court on Tuesday.
