A 19-year-old suspected of shooting dead his parents in a Central Michigan University dorm was caught by police after an all-day manhunt.
Shots rang out around 8.30am Friday on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall, a co-ed dorm. No one else was injured.
The shooter then fled the scene on foot, heading north.
The suspected gunman has been identified as James Eric Davis Jr., 19, who had spent Thursday night in the hospital after campus cops caught him in a ‘drug-induced’ state.
Just after midnight, police took Davis into custody after searching for him for more than 12 hours.
Local and state police had the help of the FBI and agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to locate the gunman.
He is now in custody while police investigate what led to the shooting.
Central Michigan University confirmed on Twitter that the two victims were Davis’ parents, 47-year-old Diva Davis and 48-year-old James Eric Davis Sr. Davis Sr who worked as a police officer in Bellwood, Illinois, just west of Chicago.

The school updated its website at 12.50am to inform students, parents and staff that the suspect in the shooting was arrested

Davis is described as being African American and of a slight built.
He is about five-foot-10, weighs 135 pounds, has short hair and was last seen wearing yellow jeans and a blue hoodie, and had a pistol tucked into his belt before he was caught early Saturday morning.
Police believe the teen was released from a hospital this morning just before 8am, the Morning Sun reports.

At the afternoon press conference, law enforcement officials said that the suspect had been in contact with officers Thursday night for a ‘drug-related incident’.
The officers believed the teen had an ‘overdose or bad reaction’ and was taken to the hospital where he was released to medical staff.
The search for the gunman moved into the city limits, to the north of campus. It is unclear where police found him, but he has been arrested and taken into custody.
Classes have been cancelled and students were ordered to shelter in place while police searched for the gunman. He has since been arrested
Friday was the last day of classes before spring break and many parents were headed to the school to pick up their kids for the break
Parents headed to campus ahead of spring break were told not to drive onto campus, and instead assemble at a nearby Comfort Inn until it was safe to do so
Ambulances were staged throughout campus, but there were no other reports of injuries
The school posted to their Facebook Friday morning around 9.30am, telling students to shelter in place and avoid the area around Campbell Hall. Classes were cancelled for the day.
An automated phone message from the school also was sent to students Friday morning.
Surrounding schools, hospitals and offices were placed on lockdown.
Friday is the last day of classes for Spring Break, so many parents were headed to the campus to pick students up.
Central Michigan University has about 23,000 students in Mount Pleasant, which is about 70 miles north of Lansing.
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder tweeted that he is in ‘constant contact’ with the state police over the matter.
