- Jamie Kah finished third on Okita Soushi in the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday
- The jockey was involved in an awkward television interview on Saturday
- Earlier this year she announced her engagement to jockey Ben Melham
Champion jockey Jamie Kah was forced to sit awkwardly through a live TV interview on Saturday, as images of her ex-fiance were mistakenly displayed on the broadcast instead of her current partner.
The 28-year-old had ridden Okita Soushi to finish third in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup but returned on Saturday for some punditry work on Channel Nine.
Kah, who has been ranked as one of the world’s best female jockeys, sat with racing presenter Francesca Cumani on the live coverage and proceeded to speak on her fiance Ben Melham.
Melham had placed fifth in Saturday’s Tab Champions Stakes on Arapaho and ninth on Shesallshenanigans in the World Horse Racing Grand Handicap.
The pair had had announced that they had gotten engaged earlier this year on Valentine’s Day and Cumani was looking to gain an insight into how Melham was feeling ahead of the race day.

Melham had also ridden Pride Of Jenni in the VRC Champions Mile, and Cumani proceeded to question Kah about how excited her fiance was about the ‘pick up’ ride.
‘He’s very excited,’ Kah responded but paused, as an image of her former fiance Clayton Douglas and herself appeared on the screen.
‘Oh god,’ Kah can be heard saying after seeing the picture.
The broadcaster quickly switched to display several pictures of herself and her new fiance, Melham, as Kah stuttered during the interview.
She continued: ‘He’s very excited about it, um…’
‘He… Look, if she’s… If it didn’t take too much out of her [Pride Of Jenni] in her last two runs, she loves Flemington,’ she said as she tried to gather herself after the awkward moment.
She and Douglas broke up in 2022, following the now infamous AirBnB lockdown scandal.
She had appeared for an interview on Channel Nine’s live coverage in which they showed a picture of her and her ex-finace Clayton Douglas

Kah was hit with a three-month suspension after attending a wild party hosted at a luxury AirBnB on the Mornington Peninsula. She was also fined $5,452 for her role in the incident.
Last year, Kah was also in the spotlight after she suffered a serious fall during a race at Flemington.
She was placed into a six-day induced coma after suffering a brain injury following the fall.
The Aussie jockey also copped a 10-meeting ban last week. She was penalised for careless riding on Derby Day, but was able to race in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
