  • Premier League is now the only top-three European division still playing games

UEFA are set to announced that both the Champions League and Europa League are suspended with immediate effect.

The coronavirus outbreak paralyzing the continent is to bring a halt to both premier club competitions.

Confirmation of the news is expected imminently and the suspension of fixtures, according to Marca, includes tonight’s encounters including LASK vs Manchester United and Rangers vs Bayer Leverkusen.

The Champions League and Europa League are set to be suspended due to coronavirus

Every top league in Europe except the Premier League have postponed their matches in a bid to prevent the spread of the illness sweeping the world.

And now UEFA are following suit with the situation becoming untenable.

Juventus were scheduled to face Lyon next Tuesday but one of their players, Daniele Rugani, tested positive for coronavirus, meaning everyone he came into contact with including team-mates and staff must self-quarantine.

Clearly this prevents them from playing and potentially spreading coronavirus, meaning UEFA have little choice but to suspend games.

Real Madrid were due to play Manchester City next Tuesday but the Spanish side are all in quarantine until at least March 27 after a club basketball player testing positive for COVID-19.
