Chelsea have been drawn against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, while Manchester City will take on Atletico Madrid and Liverpool play Benfica.
Bayern Munich face Villarreal in the other last eight tie.
Chelsea and Man City would meet in the semi-finals if they both overcome their Madrid opposition, while Liverpool could meet Bayern in the last four.
The Blues overcame Real in last season’s semi-finals en route to winning the competition, while Atletico face a swift return to Manchester having just eliminated Man United in the round of 16.
The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Champions League took place on Friday
Chelsea overcame Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League semi-finals last season
The tie will see a Stamford Bridge return for Real’s former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Chelsea booked their last-eight spot by beating Lille, while Real staged a tremendous comeback to knock out Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool will be satisfied with a draw against Benfica as Jurgen Klopp’s side attempt to win a historic Quadruple.
Chelsea had been drawn at home to Real in the first leg but the tie will be reversed because two Madrid teams cannot play at home on consecutive nights.
Atletico take precedence, with their tie staying as it was drawn, because they are the reigning Spanish champions.
City, who overcame Sporting Lisbon 5-0 on aggregate, will fancy their chances of overcoming Diego Simeone’s men as they look to atone for last season’s defeat to Chelsea in the final.
The first legs of the quarter-finals will take place on April 5/6, while the second legs are a week later on April 12/13.
