The wait is finally over… Both Manchester City and Arsenal after much anticipation finally learned their Champions League quarter-final opponents.

Both Premier League teams were drawn difficult games for the next round of Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

Eight teams featured in the draw, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, PSG and Atletico Madrid. 

Current champions Manchester City have booked a date with European footballing royalty Real Madrid, whilst Harry Kane will return to North London with Bayern Munich to face Arsenal.

The draw for the 2023-24 Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals took place earlier today in Nyon Switzerland. 

Mikel Arteta’s side were the first name to be drawn out, followed closely behind by Tuchel’s Bayern. 

English fans didn’t have to wait much longer to discover who the Premier League sides would face as Man City were picked out to play in the third fixture against Real Madrid. 

Arsenal however now face a potential fixture scheduling problem ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa in the Premier League is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 13 at 5:30pm. 

However Villa play on the previous Thursday meaning the fixture will have to be rescheduled to the Sunday, more than likely swapping with Bournemouth vs Manchester United.

However if Arsenal receive a Tuesday second leg fixture they will be unable to play the Villa game on Sunday.

When are the Champions League quarter-finals?

The Champions League quarter-finals will be played over two legs, the first leg is scheduled for April 9 and 10 and the second leg ties will take place on April 16 and 17. 

Man City and Arsenal will face one another in the semi-final if they both progress from their quarter-final ties

Champions League semi-finals fixtures and date

The semi-finals are then pencilled in for April 30 and May 1 for the first leg and the second leg fixtures will take place on May 7 and 8.

The semi-final draw is as follows:

Arsenal/Bayern Munich v Real Madrid/Manchester City
