Chance the Rapper settles divorce from estranged wife after five years of marriage and two children together

Chance The Rapper has reached a divorce settlement with his estranged wife Kirsten Corley, nearly nine months after they first announced their separation.

The rapper and his ex-wife, both 31, filed legal documents in Cook County, Illinois, confirming to the court that they had reached an agreement to finalize their split, per TMZ on Thursday.

The pair married in 2019 in Newport Beach, California, and share two daughters: Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5.

Kirsten states that the former couple’s relationship is now ‘irretrievably broken,’ according to documents obtained by the outlet.

She also notes that they have been living separately for more than six months.

The former model also says she’s gone over the settlement and feels it’s a ‘fair and equitable resolution,’ but more details haven’t been shared yet, per the source.

The settlement follows Kirsten’s official divorce filing almost a month ago, and comes nearly seven months after the couple first revealed their intention to separate.

In a joint statement released in April, they said: ‘The two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the same time we spent together.’

Chance (born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett) and Kirsten have known each other since childhood.

They began dating in 2013, when they were both in their late teens, and welcomed their first daughter, Kensli, in 2015.

After a brief breakup in 2016, the couple reconciled and married in 2019.

Their wedding was held at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, with notable guests including Kim Kardashian and her then-husband, Kanye West.

Just six months after their wedding, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Marli.

The divorce announcement came a year after Chance was photographed engaging in controversial behavior at Carnival in Jamaica, where he was seen dancing intimately with model Mela Millz.

In a video shared on Instagram, the rapper was seen slapping Millz’s bare behind.

The video sparked divided reactions among his fans, with some criticizing his actions, saying things like, ‘He left his wife at home on his bday to go to this,’ while others defended his actions, suggesting that it was just part of the celebratory atmosphere of Carnival.

One fan wrote, ‘Clearly some of y’all don’t know anything about CARNIVAL or the CULTURE.’

The couple’s settlement now brings a formal end to their marriage, following a long period of separation and public scrutiny.
