Channel 10 presenter Lachlan Kennedy slams ‘horrendous’ Wikipedia edit everyone in the TV world is talking about – as he splits from his wife and is linked to a Nine personality

A high-profile Network Ten presenter is in damage control after a ‘horrendous’ Wikipedia entry was published about him – becoming the talk of the Australian TV industry.

A shocking claim was published about Lachlan Kennedy in an entry published to the online encyclopedia – which anyone can edit – the weekend before last. 

‘Lachlan Kennedy is an Australian journalist and news presenter,’ the Wikipedia entry began. ‘He is best known for….’

The rest of the entry cannot be published for legal reasons, with a Ten spokesperson slamming the unpublishable claim as ‘inaccurate’ and ‘untrue’. 

The rogue edit came as Mr Kennedy split with his wife, naturopath Cassie Davenport. 

He has recently been romantically linked to newly minted Channel Nine federal political reporter Liz Daniels. 

Mr Kennedy told Daily Mail Australia that the past week, and the Wikipedia post in question, had been ‘horrendous’.

‘I’m not gonna say anything mate,’ he said. ‘This is just horrendous, mate’.

Kennedy is regarded as one of the network’s ‘golden boys’ and is a CNN Fellow

The controversial paragraph was first added to Wikipedia on Saturday, July 13 at 2.22pm by an anonymous editor. 

Moments later the controversial paragraph was removed by another user who said ‘you would need evidence that he is best known for this’.

The defamatory message was then added a second time, before being deleted once more.

A Network Ten spokeswoman said: ‘We have been informed that the assertions contained in the screenshot of the Wikipedia post are inaccurate and untrue.’

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, Ms Davenport said: ‘Lachlan and I are separated. We love and adore our children and we are very much devoted to co-parenting together. 

‘Lachlan is a great father to our boys. As far as I am aware, the details written and distributed in the Wiki page as false.’  

Daily Mail Australia asked Ms Daniels to comment on her new romance. After a long pause, she said ‘no’ and hung up the phone. No wrongdoing is suggested.

In the wake of their relationship, Kennedy has been linked to Channel Nine federal politics reporter Liz Daniels 

In recent weeks the father-of-two Mr Kennedy has shut down most of his social media pages. 

He has even deleted some posts that reference his wife from his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Mr Kennedy and Ms Davenport wed in 2022 and are parents to a four-year-old and a six-month-old. 

Kennedy joined Network 10 as a reporter in 2010. In June 2022 he was named as one of the presenters of the network’s new national news bulletin. 

Kennedy and Ms Davenport are understood to have met at Ten’s Pyrmont offices in in 2017 where she was working as a executive assistant.

Like Mr Kennedy, Ms Daniels was also previously a NSW state political reporter, covering developments from the state parliament at Macquarie St, Sydney.
