Channel 4 is set to make major change to Gogglebox 11 years after the show began

Channel 4 have announced Gogglebox’s iconic theme tune will be changed for the very first since the show launched 11 years ago.

Fans of the favourite show will be treated to an unexpectedly different jingle on Friday’s episode.

Throughout the 23 series the beloved show has never changed its theme song – Perfect World by Kodaline – until now.

But on Friday at 9pm, viewers will be hearing it remixed with a classical touch.

This particular twist will only last for one night, but Channel 4 will continue to celebrate the second series of The Piano, which will kick off on April 28.

The talent show sees TV favourite Claudia Winkleman inviting gifted amateurs pianist to play live across some of the nation’s busiest train stations.

But as soon as the performers begin, they unconsciously enter a new competition, which is judged by renowned pianist Lang Lang as well as pop star Mika.

The lucky pianists to be chosen are then invited to perform to a concert audience of thousands in the show’s grand finale.

As Gogglebox’s fans will be tuning in on Channel 4 this evening, they will hear a piano medley arrangement of Perfect World for the first time – thanks to touch of Kodaline’s frontman Steve Garrigan.

Other series to be re-arranged to celebrate The Piano include Channel 4 News’ theme tune Best Endeavours, which will see the new melody produced by Phase Music and Universal Production Music airing on Sunday’s new bulletin at 6.30pm.

Countdown’s much-loved theme will see a classical revamp done by Steve Holness and Pascal Wyse from Monday 29 May to Friday 3 May.

It follows Come Dine With Me: The Professional’s upcoming series with a new piano version by Patrick Duffin, only in the episodes airing from Monday 6 to Friday 10 May.

Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer Ian Katz said: ‘The Piano is that rarest of things, a TV show that makes people feel better about the world after watching it than they did before.
