A feast of tigers, dancers and fireworks kick started the Winter Olympics opening ceremony in PyeongChang on Friday night.
But viewers were less than impressed with Channel 7 commentators for chatting through the entire opening ceremony.
Basil Zempilas and Edwina Bartholomew introduced the acts as they entered the centre stage however according to some viewers, the highly anticipated South Korean opening ceremony was stolen by constant commentary.

‘Please shut the commentators up and let the event tell the story. We just listened to an explanation of bells instead of hearing the damn things,’ another wrote (pictured)

‘Well done Channel 7 on ruining the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in South Korea with incessant unnecessary talking from commentators who clearly don’t know when to shut up. Painful and in the end turned off,’ someone wrote.
One keen Olympics viewer described the opening ceremony as ‘magnificent’ with ‘only one small problem’.
‘Seems there were these guys talking all through the opening ceremony and spoiling it for the rest of us. Very disappointing,’ he said.
Veteran journalist and Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew apologised to some of the disappointed viewers online.

‘I’m sorry you thought that, John,’ Bartholomew wrote.
‘We tried to keep our commentary to an absolute minimum to try and explain the messages behind the performance.’
The Winter Olympics 2018 held in South Korea will run until February 25.
