The blonde reporter had shot her final live cross on the Gold Coast ahead of welcoming her second child.

But what was meant to be a touching send-off quickly became bizarre as she cheerfully bid her farewells in front of the aftermath of a break-in.

The weekend 9News presenter was stunned to see her husband and their four-year-old son Albert arrive on-set with flowers as she reported from the macabre scene.

Anchors Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo said their farewells to the reporter from Sydney, chuckling over the peculiar location Mia found herself in.

As Mia stood in front of a crime scene in Ormeau, reporting on an overnight break-in at a local tobacco shop, the conversation took an unexpected turn.

With police combing through the taped off area behind her, Karl, 50, and Sarah, 38, cheerfully spoke with Mia about her maternity leave.

She was gifted a bouquet of flowers during the chat, as well as a small onesie embroidered with the Today logo as she cradled her baby bump.

Mia was then joined by her husband Paul and their son Albert, with the small family celebrating and giggling in front of the crime scene behind them.

‘Beautiful happiness in front of a crime scene in Queensland, says everything about Queensland, doesn’t it?’ Karl joked.

The crime Mia was reporting on involved a gang of culprits who rammed a ute into a business on Peachey Road at around 3am to rob the ATM machine.

Dragging the machine outside, the offenders stole the cash and fled in a white Toyota HiLux, with police investigating the scene as Mia bid her farewells.

Mia and Paul welcomed their first child, four-year-old son Albert, in December 2019.
