Channel Nine’s controversial Shane Warne miniseries Warnie fails to win primetime slot in the ratings as viewers call it ‘putrid and trashy’
Channel Nine’s two-part Shane Warne controversial miniseries Warnie failed to win the primetime slot in the ratings when it debuted on Sunday night.
The show came in second place behind Channel Seven’s Dancing With The Stars.
However, Warnie still relatively did well for Nine by attracting 528,000 viewers across the country, trailing DWTS’ 645,000.
Both had a firm lead over Ten’s The Project, which pulled in a meagre 297,0000 viewers.
The first half of Warnie covered his early life and meteoric rise to fame as a prodigious cricketer.

Viewers tuning in were not impressed with what they saw, with many sharing their thoughts on Twitter. ‘This Warnie biopic is such a cringe, how’d this get approved,’ one person said
It comes after Shane’s ex-wife Simone slammed the timing of the miniseries.
The former WAG believes it’s too soon for a show about the late cricketer, who died suddenly from a heart attack aged just 52 on March 4, 2022 while on holiday in Thailand.
‘I haven’t wanted to read into too much about it, but I think it’s a bit unkind and mean spirited to be honest,’ the 53-year-old told the Herald Sun.
Part two of Warnie airs at 7:30pm on Monday on Channel Nine
