Channel Seven looking for a co-host to join Dr Chris Brown’s new series Dream Home – as the very familiar face they’re chasing for the role is revealed

Channel Seven is reportedly on the hunt for a new co-host to join Dr Chris Brown on their home renovation series, Dream Home.

After the first season left network executives less than impressed, insiders suggest a major shake-up is on the horizon for the popular show.

Brown, 45, known for his charming on-screen presence, seemed a perfect fit for the hosting gig.

However, well-placed insiders have told Woman’s Day that his solo performance didn’t quite hit the mark.

The network is now searching for a co-host with a background in renovation and building, someone reminiscent of the much-loved Carrie Bickmore.

‘They felt it was obvious he needed a co-host,’ an insider told the outlet.

‘Shelley Craft does that role really well next to Scotty Cam on The Block,’ the source continued.

‘While they chose not to put a female co-host with Dr Chris as they structured the new series, it would seem that will be corrected.’

The insider further explained that the chemistry and dynamic a co-host brings is essential for a show like Dream House.

‘He needs someone to bounce off. He kind of looks a bit out of place by himself.’

It comes as producers for the series recently announced a casting call for season two.

According to the casting notice, creators are seeking couples who have dreams of renovating their home.

‘Not only will your house be transformed into the home of your dreams – for free, you’ll also be competing for a life-changing cash prize!,’ the notice said.

‘You don’t need to be a tradie or even have any experience – just someone with an eye for design and a drive to get your hands dirty.’

This season’s winner will receive their own ‘dream home’ and a top prize of $100,000.

Renovator Lana Taylor, buyer’s agent Simon Cohen and interior designer Rosie Morley will join Brown as judges for the debut series.
