Channel Ten gets boost in ratings with The Bachelor finale

It is the popular reality TV show that has had fans talking for months.

But The Bachelor 2017 finale suffered a slight drop in the ratings on Thursday night.

The season’s end, which saw the marketing manager chose jewellery designer Laura Byrne over Elise Stacy, didn’t rate as well as previous finales of the show.

Are people switching off The Bachelor? Matty J’s finale suffers a drop in the ratings as Channel 10 continues to dwindle following voluntary administration

Last year’s Bachelor featuring Richie Strahan pulled in 1.32 million last year, and the year before Sam Wood raked in 1.482 million viewers.

Despite this, Channel Ten did smash its competition.

The dating reality show managed to come out well-on top, beating two of the major prime-time news bulletins on Channel Seven and Channel Nine.

The episode scored 1,116,000 viewers in the five city metro.

Sydney and Melbourne earned the highest number of eyeballs, while Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide managed to contribute over 100,000 viewers apiece.

Laura won the heart of 30 year old Sydney marketing director Matty J after a three-month battle against 21 other lovelorn singles.

The ratings come after Channel Ten announced in June that the network had gone into voluntary administration following a $232 million half year loss.

With CBS buying Ten in August, the network has been sweating on attracting more viewers due to its dwindling ratings.
