Chaos as Luka Doncic is ejected in Lakers meltdown before hotly anticipated return to Dallas Mavericks

Chaos erupted late Tuesday night in Oklahoma City as Lakers star Luka Doncic was ejected in the fourth quarter, his final on-court action before returning to Dallas against the Mavericks.

Per a pool report, Doncic was given both technical fouls for using profanity at officials. 

Coming to his defense were LeBron James and other teammates, a day before Doncic plays his first road game against the Mavericks, two months after the shocking trade that sent him to Hollywood.  

Doncic himself said his ejection was due to a back and forth with a fan and had ‘nothing to do’ with the officiating crew. 

‘I’ve never got a fan ejected, never,’ Doncic said. ‘But if they talk, you’re going to talk back like always.’

‘It was a weird couple minutes after that – starting with the ejection,’ James added. ‘I don’t know why the ref was taking it personal. … Just weird as hell after that moment.’

Doncic did not take too long dwelling on a 16-point loss on the road to the best team in the NBA. Instead, focus quickly shifted to the highly anticipated return to the Lone Star State.

‘Of course, there’s gonna be a lot of emotion for me,’ Doncic said. ‘I don’t really know what to expect. I don’t know how I’m gonna feel, honestly.’ 

‘I’m looking forward to being back in Dallas, obviously, with the fans, seeing my teammates – ex-teammates. It’s gonna be very emotional for me, for sure.’

Doncic was viewed as the cornerstone of Dallas athletics when he was dealt to Los Angeles, making the city more relevant nationally than anyone on the Cowboys, Stars, or Rangers. 

Now, he’ll return as a member of the opposite camp, as he’ll expected to get a huge reaction during the starting lineups at American Airlines Center.
