London commuters faced further chaos today after the Jubilee Line was shut down due to ‘temporary unavailability of trains’ – a day after Extinction Rebellion protesters enraged passengers at Stratford, Canning Town and Shadwell during rush hour.

A spokesperson for the service said faults had been found during safety inspections on ‘some trains’ forcing TfL chiefs to remove them from service as a precaution.

A statement on Twitter said: ‘During safety inspections a fault was found with some trains, & they were removed from our service to be worked on.’

Customers have been told to avoid using the sections of the line that are still open.

There was no service between the busy Waterloo station and Neasden, which TfL said was due to an ‘unavailability of trains’.

It warned customers of severe delays across the entire line.
