Draymond Green was on the receiving end of a hilarious – but brutal – joke from NBA legend Charles Barkley live on TV during ‘The Match’ on Wednesday night.

The high-profile pair were both in Vegas for the NBA vs NFL charity golf showdown, with Green supporting Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, and Barkley on analyst duty.

While commenting on the event from TNT’s studio, Barkley joked that Green – who was mic’d up throughout – ‘talks a lot for a guy that ain’t got no job’.

Some fans found the joke hilarious, while others labelled it ‘cringe,’ considering the fact that the NBA is on the eve of free agency – a fact quickly pointed out by anchor Ernie Johnson.

Green is expected to sign a contract worth at least $100million, whether in a return to the Golden State Warriors or a move to another team, with newly promoted general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. expressing interest in keeping Green playing in San Francisco.

The four-time NBA champion recently declined the $27.6 million option for the final year of his contract with the Warriors, and so is not struggling to find a job in the NBA.

Later in the day Green said in a video with Buffalo Bills superstar pass rusher Von Miller that he is hoping to sign a new contract ‘in a couple of days.’

‘Thank God just got a new contract last year… he gon’ pay me my money that I’m winning today,’ Green said in a video as he sat next to Miller in a golf cart. ‘ And hope to God I can get a new contract in a couple days.’

Hours later, Green in fact lost the $10,000 charity bet he had with Miller, after the NFL pairing of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce beat Curry and Thompson.

It was recently reported that the Warriors had ‘strong confidence’ Green would re-sign with the team, while the Memphis Grizzlies also had reported interest in signing the four-time All-Star before trading for former Celtics guard Marcus Smart.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst also recently stated that the Sacramento Kings are interested in Green and can ‘blow the Warriors out of the water‘ in terms of what the can offer the 33-year-old.

The Athletic also reported that Damian Lillard’s ‘dream scenario’ in Portland involved adding Green to the roster.

Last season Green averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 73 games and 9.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists through 11 playoff appearances.

Despite the fact his statistics may not jump off the page and impress in the same fashion as many of league’s other superstars, his leadership and ability to impact the game in other ways have become calling cards of the 33-year-old veteran.

Those same attributes are likely what made him an appealing option to the Grizzlies, despite the bad blood between the two franchises over the course of the last few years.
