Charles Leclerc takes pole for F1 Sprint race ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc takes pole for Saturday’s Sprint race ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with Sergio Perez second ahead of Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen – but Lewis Hamilton is only sixth in Baku

Charles Leclerc made it a qualifying double on the weekend of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after taking pole in the Sprint Shootout session.

Leclerc, who took pole position for the Grand Prix on Friday, completed a double on Saturday morning when he pipped Red Bull’s Sergio Perez by just over a tenth to ensure he starts from the front ahead of the afternoon’s sprint race.

Max Verstappen was a further tenth behind in third spot while Lewis Hamilton could only manage sixth for Mercedes.
