Charlie Woods has secured his maiden AJGA win after a remarkable performance from the teenage son of golf legend Tiger Woods.

The 16-year-old triumphed at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Florida after a six-under-par final round at Streamsong Resort.

Woods Jr is ranked No 606 by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). This was his fifth AJGA event and his previous best finish was a tie for 25th.

But he finished three shots clear at the top of the leaderboard in Florida to join the winners’ circle – and reach a major milestone as he bids to follow in the footsteps of his father.

Woods Jr ended on 15-under-par – three clear of three players on 12-under-par – after overcoming a chaotic start to the tournament in Bowling Green.

During a remarkable opening round, the teenager hit eight birdies and an eagle but somehow carded a two-under-par 70 after also shooting five bogeys and a triple bogey.

There was far less turbulence in rounds two and three, however, when Woods Jr. hit a combined 17 birdies and just four bogeys.
