Charlotte Hornets ‘will interview ESPN analyst JJ Redick for their head coaching job’ as retired NBA star eyes bench role as he continues new podcast with LeBron James

The Charlotte Hornets will interview ESPN analyst JJ Redick for their head coaching job, according to sources, as the retired NBA star eyes a role on a team’s bench next season amid his rise in popularity due to his podcast with Lebron James.

Redick, who became an on-air analyst for ESPN shortly after his retirement in 2021, has ‘shown an interest in making a coaching jump in recent years,’ according to The Athletic’s senior NBA insider Shams Charania. 

The 15-year NBA veteran is currently one of two cohosts along with James on their podcast, Mind the Game, where the pair have ‘purse conversations about basketball.’

Together, James and Redick have released six episodes with their latest coming out on April 17, three days before the start of the NBA playoffs.
