- Stag caught on camera at the Glenfinnan House Hotel, Scottish Highlands
- Majestic animal tried to tuck into some bird food in the hotel’s back garden
- Red deer are the largest land-mammal in the UK with a male 53 inches
A stag was caught on camera tucking in to some bird seed after sneaking into the backgarden of a Highlands hotel.
The majestic animal was captured by head chef Duncan Gibson, outside the Glenfinnan House Hotel.
The stag, thought to be a red deer, clearly fancied something for breakfast when he roamed into the gardens at around 9.30am on Friday.
Mr Gibson’s wife Manja told the Daily Record: ‘We frequently have deer wandering through the garden but not usually that close.
‘We were feeding the birds as we always do in the winter and could not believe what we saw that morning. Very cheeky stag.’

Brought to Britain from Europe around 11,000 years ago, red deer thrive in woodland and forest habitats in England and southern Scotland.
However, they can also adapt to open moor and hills.
Native deer stock can be found in the Scottish Highlands, Dumfriesshire, Lake District, East Anglia and the south-west of England.
