Chelsea are finalising a £30m transfer for Nicolas Jackson after the deal hit complications amid the Blues’ desire to pay release clause in instalments

  • Chelsea are finalising a £30million swoop for Villarreal star Nicolas Jackson
  • Complications had reportedly arisen in the deal over paying in instalments
  • Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy are close to moves to Saudi Arabian clubs
  • Chelsea are finalising a £30million deal for Villarreal star Nicolas Jackson, who is desperate to join the London side having already agreed personal terms.

Earlier this week, reports suggested the deal may have hit some complications over the club’s desire to pay in instalments.

While the Blues know the 22-year-old’s release clause stands at £30m, they will try to negotiate the renumeration in a plan that involves structured payments, while the LaLiga outfit will also ask for a buy out.

It comes as Hakim Ziyech looks to be on his way out of the club, with the Moroccan close to an agreement with Al-Nassr.

He could be one of three Chelsea players moving to the Middle East during the summer window, with N’Golo Kante having already signed for Al-Ittihad, while Edouard Mendy is currently in the process of agreeing terms with Al-Ahli.

Jackson, meanwhile, has already agreed personal terms with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and could be a strong addition to the Blue’s squad.

The Argentine’s side are in desperate need of a No 9, having struggled in front of goal last season, scoring a meagre 38 goals throughout the campaign.

The Senegalese forward, who has three caps for his national side, could provide the answer in front of net that they’re looking for and could also be a cheaper option than the likes of Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund, who have also been linked with moves to Chelsea and other clubs around the league.

After missing several games during the middle of the season with a hip injury, Jackson found his form in the later stages of the campaign, scoring nine goals in eight matches, to rack up a tally of 12 goals in 26 LaLiga matches.

The striker notably has the same agent as Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and in a bid to replace Matteo Kovacic, who looks to be on the cusp of a move to Man City, Chelsea could make an £80m bid for the Ecuadorian after their £60m offer was rejected last week.

With Kai Havertz also set to move north to Arsenal after a £65m deal was agreed for the German forward, Chelsea could rake in a whopping £130m in transfer fees this month, with several players set to depart the club.
