Chelsea Clinton hits back at GOP congressman who tweeted a clip of a lamp falling on her mom

Chelsea Clinton hit back at Republican congressman Paul Goser on Thursday after he tweeted a clip of a heavy lamp falling on her mom Hillary during a 1992 interview about her dad Bill’s infidelity.

The Arizona lawmaker, 61, shared the clip on Christmas Eve. In it the former Secretary of State, 72, can be heard exclaiming ‘Jesus, Mary and Joseph’.

Gover wrote: ‘Remember the reason for the season!’

But the former first daughter, 39, hit back with a tweet of her own, replying: ‘At 11am on Christmas Eve, we were making cookies for Santa. Thank you Congressman @RepGosar for reminding me of my dad’s quick reflexes!

Goser’s post has been liked more than 12,000 time and retweeted by more than 3,000 people. Chelsea’s clapback, pictured, garnered nearly 60,000 likes by Thursday afternoon

Bill and Hillary appeared on 60 Minutes following accusations that the then governor of Arkansas had cheated.

Gennifer Flowers’ accusations that she had a 12-year-long affair with Bill became the most sensational event of the 1992 presidential campaign.

Three days after a supermarket tabloid broke the story, Clinton and his wife Hillary appeared side-by-side on ’60 Minutes,’ flatly denying it ever happened.

Clinton admitted six years later that he had sex with Flowers ‘one time’ in 1977. That came during a deposition in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case.

In the interview former presidential candidate Hillary infamously told journalist Steve Kroft: ‘You know, I’m not some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette. I’m sitting here because I love him.’

But part of the interview not aired came around 40 minutes into the chat when the heavy light fixture used in the filming came crashing down on the couple.

It narrowly avoids hitting Hillary as Bill quickly pulls her to safety.

And it was this clip Goser shared. The post has been liked more than 12,000 time and retweeted by more than 3,000 people.

Chelsea’s clapback garnered nearly 60,000 likes.

Interviewer Kroft later said of the incident: ‘A wall-mounted lamp, a high-powered– a television lamp. It just sprung off the wall. It sounded like an explosion. I didn’t know what had happened.’

Gosar’s communication’s director told Newsweek there was ‘no deeper meaning at play here’, and referred to Hillary’s reaction of ‘Jesus, Mary and Joseph’.

But his Democratic rival Delina DiSanto said of his post: ‘I cannot believe you feel this is something to celebrate. @HillaryClinton almost got hurt and you think it’s something to celebrate or are you laughing?

‘Now that is a dark personality … We cannot continue to have you in office. You are a danger to [Arizona’s 4th Congressional District].’

The Republican is no stranger to controversy on Twitter.

In November he shared 23 tweets about the first public impeachment hearing examining President Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukraine. The first letter of each tweet spelled out ‘Epstein didn’t kill himself.’

Six of his own siblings also appeared in a political ad giving their support to his opponent, Democratic candidate David Brill, in 2018.

Gosar said at the time: ‘You can’t pick your family. We all have crazy aunts and relatives etc and my family is no different. I hope they find peace in their hearts and let go all the hate.’

After winning election with the support of his mother Gosar wrote: ‘I guess I really am Mom’s favorite.’
