Chelsea confirm the signing of £32m forward Nicolas Jackson on an eight-year deal

Chelsea CONFIRM the signing of £32m forward Nicolas Jackson on an eight-year deal after watching him thrive in LaLiga with Villarreal… as he becomes Mauricio Pochettino’s second summer arrival

  • Chelsea confirmed the signing of Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson for £32m
  • The 22-year-old star has signed an eight-year contract after thriving in LaLiga
  • Jackson bagged nine goals in his last eight games during the 2022-2023 season

Chelsea have completed the £32million signing of Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, 22, following the completion of his medical, on an eight year contract.

Chelsea paid Villarreal slightly more than his £30.1m release clause as they were eager to secure a deal for the Senegal international who thrived in LaLiga last term.

As a result, Jackson has become Mauricio Pochettino’s second summer signing since taking charge of the Premier League giants in May.

The Argentine manager has already secured the services of former RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku for £52m.

However, Chelsea have opted for a summer clear out following Todd Boehly’s £600m splurge last season – parting ways with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Kouilbaly and Mason Mount.

Speaking about Jackson, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: ‘We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea.’

They went on to add: ‘Jackson is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.

‘We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates.’

The 21-year-old, who has played twice for Senegal, scored 13 goals last season in a breakthrough campaign at Spanish side Villarreal.

Jackson bagged nine goals in his last eight games, as the Yellow Submarine finished fifth in the LaLiga standings.

Jackson will be looking to help ease Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal – with the Blues scoring just 38 Premier League goals last season.

The 21-year-old will join the likes of  Christopher Nkunku in attack as the former RB Leipzig foward was signed earlier in the week.
