Fans have taken to social media to slam Nicholas Jackson after he missed a great chance to give Chelsea the lead against Manchester City.

The 22-year-old has scored 13 goals across all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s struggling side this season but has endured a frustrating first season in English football.

He has been widely criticised for missing a number of big chances and his struggles in front of goal continued in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

The Senegalese striker ran from his own half and was put clean through on goal by Enzo Fernandez on the half hour mark.

He went around Ortega but failed to shoot, attempting to find Cole Palmer before Nathan Ake intercepted.

Chelsea fans took to social media to express their frustration, with some claiming the club needs a new striker.

One said: ‘As good as Jackson is, that right there is probably why we’re looking at a striker.’

Another wrote: ‘Jackson is so frustrating lmao. Hes actually a good player, i dont know why he does these things.’

‘Jackson man… how tf has he missed that. What’s been costing us all season’ said a third fan.

Jackson’s misfortunes continued into the second-half when he was played in by Conor Gallagher but saw his curling effort pushed away by Ortega.

Just seconds later, Palmer found the striker with a cross, but his header was straight at the City keeper.
