Chelsea Handler has admitted to giving her dog the ADHD medication Adderall by mistake while on board a plane.
The comedian, 49, made the outrageous confession during an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.
Recounting the story, Handler shared that she was flying back from Spain with her late dog Chunk when she tried to give the German shepherd-Chow mix some melatonin to calm him down.
‘I thought I gave him a melatonin and I gave him an Adderall accidentally because I had mixed all my pills together because I’ve been on vacation for quite a long time,’ she said.
‘I had taken a Xanax,’ she continued, referring to the anti-anxiety drug.

‘I thought I gave him a melatonin and I gave him an Adderall accidentally because I had mixed all my pills together,’ she said
Xanax, which Handler described as having a ‘sedative effect,’ left her drowsy enough to accidentally give Chunk Adderall instead of the popular sleep aid melatonin.
‘Then I woke up, and the flight attendant was shaking me by the shoulders, and she’s like, “Miss Handler, [your] dog is running around the first-class cabin foaming at the mouth. We need you to get up and get him.”
‘And I was like, “What? I have a dog? Like, what are you talking about?” And I went over, and there he is licking the side of the bathroom door.’
When she got home, Handler eventually figured out that she’d given poor Chunk Adderall.
‘And people ask me why I don’t have children,’ she joked.
Handler rescued Chunk from a kill shelter in 2009 and he eventually died in 2018.
Last year, Handler admitted that she was taking the diabetes drug Ozempic – and that she had no idea she was on it.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast, the comedian joked that her doctor ‘just hands out’ the medication to ‘anybody’ looking to ‘drop five pounds.’
‘I came back from a vacation and I injected myself with it. I went to lunch with a girlfriend a few days later, and she was like, “I’m not really eating anything. I’m so nauseous, I’m on Ozempic,”‘ she recalled.
Then Handler noted that she was ‘kind of nauseous too,’ but chalked up the feeling to jetlag after a month-long vacation in Spain.
Handler’s pal then asked whether she was ‘sure’ she wasn’t on Ozempic, to which she responded: ‘I’m on Semaglutide.’
‘That’s Ozempic,’ her friend explained.
