Chelsea held further talks with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Wednesday as they try to reach on agreement over the player’s wages.

The Blues are also considering Benfica centre-back Tomas Araujo in case of defensive sales, with Chelsea potentially set for a busy end to the transfer window.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli submitted an initial bid of £55million for Osimhen, with the Blues linked with the Nigerian striker for much of the summer.

Chelsea’s preferred option regarding a deal for Osimhen is a loan with an obligation to buy, rather than an outright purchase.

Napoli and Osimhen have indicated that they may be willing to lower their demands so that a deal can go through before the end of the window.
