Chelsea took to a much more unorthodox method to their preparations for their clash with Arsenal, as giant blue yoga balls were seen flying across their Cobham training ground.

The Premier League champions will be looking to close a very successful week after they dismantled Azerbaijan Premier League side Qarabag in the Champions League.

Manager Antonio Conte decided on a very different approach to the usual training sessions coming out of Cobham, however, as Blues team-mates were pictured enduring some residence training using bright blue yoga balls and elastic bands.

The majority of the pictures see Blues team-mates with their arms linked and giggling away at the exercises – which in turn looked both hilarious and difficult.

First-choice squad players such as Victor Moses, Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill and Michy Batschuayi were getting stuck into the yoga balls, while David Luiz and Tiemoue Bkayoko preferred the resistance straps to big blue balls.

For some though, the balls were a cruel mistress. For Bakayoko and Azpilicueta namely, this was a tough game to master as they were seen on numerous occasions sliding off the back. Lucky they’re good footballers.

Chelsea have come off the back of an opening day defeat by Burnley to win their previous three Premier League games which include Tottenham, Everton and Leicester to move up to third in the top flight.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal on the other hand, are going through yet another sceptical phase at the Emirates, but will have gained some confidence after coming from behind against Cologne to win 3-1 on the opening night of the Europa League on Thursday.

Nevertheless, while Chelsea’s close encounters with Arsenal are anything but predictable. You can guarantee Chelsea will be winning all the aerial battles on Sunday.

The squad did, however, take time to work on the pitch which looked much more like the norm
