Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich held talks with Chinese businessmen last week over an investment of over £500million in their redevelopment of Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League champions plan to transform their home into a stunning 60,000-capacity stadium in the next five years but won’t be relying solely on the Russian’s money.
Abramovich isn’t interested in selling a stake of the club, The Sun report, but met the Chinese consortium in an effort to secure investment for the stadium, which would then be paid back.

The new stadium, which will be build on the existing site of Stamford Bridge, was granted approval by London Mayor Sadiq Khan back in March after Hammersmith and Fulham Council gave the green light in January.
It will have a capacity of 60,000 – a considerable increase on 41,631 the stadium presently holds – and the Blues would likely move in for the 2021-22 season having played temporarily at Wembley.

Abramovich has poured in more than £1billion since buying the London club in 2003 but is looking at alternative ways to finance the building of the new stadium.
Chelsea toured China in pre-season and played Arsenal in a friendly match at the Beijing National Stadium, winning 3-0.
But their visit was overshadowed by Kenedy’s offensive social media posts mocking China and its people that resulted in the Brazilian winger being sent home in disgrace.
