Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca may have his hands full with the Blues’ quest to qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League but the club’s loan army will also be giving the Italian a headache.

Chelsea will face Real Betis in the Conference League final on May 28 after Thursday’s 5-1 aggregate success over Djurgarden. In the Premier League, they currently sit in fifth, the final Champions League spot, with three matches remaining.

And as Maresca directs Chelsea’s European fate, he will also have to work out what to do with the 16 players that the club currently has out on loan.

The future of one of those stars was thrown into doubt on Friday when reports emerged that his loan club were not interested in pursuing a permenant deal.

The Athletic are reporting that Axel Disasi has failed to impress Aston Villa manager Unai Emery and the French centre back will therefore return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season when his loan expires.

Villa paid a £5m loan fee in February to gain the services of the 27-year-old however he has fallen out of favour and was left out of last week’s squad to face Fulham.

The report explains that Disasi will find himself unwanted when he returns to London with Chelsea keen to sell the former Monaco defender to raise transfer funds.

Fourteen other loan stars are due to return to Chelsea this summer including Joao Felix (from AC Milan), Raheem Sterling (Arsenal) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (Bournemouth). The 16th loan player, Deivid Washington, has joined Santos until December.

Felix and Sterling have failed to impress during their loan spells but Arrizabalaga has been a solid presence in the Cherries’ goal.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a return to Real Madrid according to Mundo Deportivo and may even provide Chelsea with an alternative to Robert Sanchez who has come under fire at times this season for his performances.
