Chelsea fans paid an emotional tribute to lifelong fan Jamal Edwards MBE, following his tragic death earlier in the week.

Edwards made a name for himself through his online music channel SB.TV which he founded in 2006, leading him to work with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Stormzy and Emeli Sande.

Following his untimely death due to a short illness, tributes have flooded in for the impressive entrepreneur – including during Chelsea’s Champions League game.

During Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 tie with Lille at Stamford Bridge, the home fans clapped throughout the 31st minute in tribute of the lifelong Blues supporter. 

The club also posted a message on their Twitter account after the news was revealed on Sunday evening.

Chelsea wrote: ‘We’re deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jamal Edwards. An inspiration to many, we’re honoured that he was part of our Chelsea family.

Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved him.’

Tributes came flooding in for Edwards, with a number of Chelsea squad members posting messages in memory of him.

Mason Mount wrote: ‘Always showed me so much love and support, proper Chels! You will be truly missed, RIP Jamal Edwards.’

John Terry posted a picture of Edwards kissing the Chelsea badge with the caption: ‘RIP my friend’. 

The home fans also chanted ‘Jamal Edwards, he’s one of our own’ throughout the first-half of their Champions League game.
