  • The 21-year-old appeared to be hurt when going for a header as he scored
  • He became the fourth American to net in three straight Premier League games

Christian Pulisic is an injury doubt for the United States’ CONCACAF Nations League games against Canada and Cuba after leaving Chelsea’s match against Crystal Palace with a hip injury.

The 21-year-old attacker appeared to pick up the knock when he scored his fifth goal in three Premier League matches, after colliding with goalkeeper Vicente Guaita for his headed goal.

Pulisic became just the fourth American to score in three straight Premier League games, after Roy Wegerle, Joe Max-Moore and Clint Dempsey.

The U.S. Soccer Federation said on Monday that Pulisic continues to be evaluated and no decision has been made whether he will join the U.S. camp in Orlando, Florida.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be sweating over Pulisic’s fitness as the US international finally begins to show the Premier League what he is capable of.

The 21-year-old had a tough time of it when he first arrived at Stamford Bridge from Borussia Dortmund in a £58million deal this summer, with Lampard electing to sideline the youngster for the opening spell of the season.

Pulisic had spoken of his frustrations at a lack of opportunities in west London, with rumours circulating that the Pennsylvanian was considering a loan move away from the four-time Premier League champions.

However, the attacker forced his way into Lampard’s first team plans after providing the all-important assist for Michy Batshuayi’s winner against Ajax in the Champions League last month, and backed that up with a man-of-the-match performance against Burnley in which he scored a hat trick.

Since then, Pulisic has been one of the first name’s on Chelsea’s team sheet, keeping out the likes of Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Lampard will hope that the two-week lay off will give his man ample time to recover for his side’s trip to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Chelsea sit in third place after 12 games and are nine points ahead of fifth-placed Sheffield United as they look to secure Champions League football for a second successive season.
