Cheshire police officer charged with raping schoolgirl

  • Ian Naude, 29, has been charged with raping a teenage girl at property in Crewe
  • He was arrested at the weekend and appeared at magistrates’ court on Monday
  • Naude was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court next month

A serving police officer has been charged with the rape of a teenage girl.

Ian Naude, 29, of Market Drayton in Shropshire, was arrested over the weekend by detectives investigating the alleged sex attack.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the PC was charged with the offence on Sunday, and was shortly afterwards served with a suspension notice.

Officers were called to an address in Crewe on Friday to reports that a schoolgirl had been raped.

Naude was arrested the following day, and appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded into custody to appear before Chester Crown Court on December 4.

Cheshire Police say the victim is receiving specialist care and support.

The spokesman added: ‘Cheshire Police take all allegations of rape extremely seriously and has specialist trained officers available to provide support.

‘Anyone who has been a victim of this type of crime is urged to contact police.’
