Chicago Cubs employee is hospitalized after opening ‘suspicious package’ in the mail and coming into contact with an unknown skin irritant… sparking a HAZMAT response at team’s offices next to Wrigley Field

A Chicago Cubs security employee has been hospitalized after coming into contact with a ‘foreign substance,’ according to reports.

According to NBC 5 Chicago, the man was taken to the hospital after opening a ‘suspicious package’ at a building near Wrigley Field.

That reportedly sparked a Level 1 Hazmat call at the Cubs’ administrative offices, with a bomb unit on the scene.

ABC 7 Chicago later identified the man as a Cubs security employee, with the man reportedly being taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital by ambulance. 

Police said the substance was received in the mail at an office near Wrigley Field.

According to NBC 5, police are still on the scene.
