A bridesmaid gave her friends the best wedding present ever – by acting as a surrogate for their first child together.
Deri Rogers-Wood, 27, and husband Ben, 30, from Cwmbran, near Newport, tied the knot in 2015 with ten bridesmaids by their side.
But it was chief bridesmaid Sadie Cox, 40, who gave them the incredible wedding gift – offering to be birth mother to the couple’s future baby.
And now, two years later, she has given birth to a little boy named Lotan Blue Phallon Rogers-Wood, weighing 8lbs 3oz.
Proud father Deri said: ‘It was a very long birth but Sadie was amazing. It lasted two days.

‘Sadie flew through the pregnancy. She said it was the best pregnancy she’s had. We are so happy and it is the best feeling in the world knowing that our baby is here.
‘I kept everyone updated about the birth and we have had so many lovely comments from people.’
Sadie already has four children but wanted to help longtime friends Deri and Ben have their first child together.
Lotan was conceived using Ben’s sperm and a donor egg in a £7,000 procedure at a private clinic.
Pub manager Deri said: ‘Sadie was adopted herself and she says she knows what it’s like to be brought into a loving family. I’ve known her for over ten years and she even introduced me and Ben back in 2013.’

The process to prepare Sadie’s body for the pregnancy took a year as she had to boost her oestrogen levels with tablets and had nightly hormone injections before the embryo was implanted in January 2017 (pictured here with baby Lotan)

‘I can’t wait to be in this little boy’s life as a friend of the family and I am so proud to have been a part of this. He is going to be very loved.’

Ben and Deri chose 10 female friends plus Sadie as bridesmaids to make their big day a truly white wedding – inviting each of them to wear their favourite dress.
Deri – who already has son Maccaulay, aged nine, from a previous relationship – said: ‘I figured every wedding needs a wedding dress – so why not 10?’
Both men were there for the birth as Sadie gave them the gift of a lifetime.
Giving thanks to Sadie, Ben added: ‘Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity because without you this may have never happened.
‘I can’t thank you enough now we’re home. Love you to the moon and back.’
